And how can you acquire these same skills in order to approach with confidence those legendary ascents in the Alps and in so many other high places, that for the sake of preserving tradition and posterity are still preserved as traditional (trad) climbing routes?
Wonder no longer – this course will introduce you to the special skills and techniques needed to climb blank cliff faces using only the nooks, cracks and holes that nature carved into the walls to protect your route. Engage with our highly experienced guides – veterans of innumerable trad ascents both locally and across Europe and the USA – to learn how to read the rock, rack your harness, lock in your protection and make it safely to the top. The experience of conquering a trad climb, however short or long, enriches the achievement of ascending a rock face with the added spice of complete self-reliance and exposure – there are few feelings of satisfaction quite like it!
In Malta, we have preserved a host of classic, well protected, 3-star trad climbs for the enjoyment of exponents of this sport – both single and multi-pitch routes, many of them hanging right over the azure waters of the Med. These form the perfect playground in which to try your hand to learn the requisite skills in safety and comfort.
