Hendrik

Meet Hendrik, a trad climber at heart, but also passionate about a variety of adventure sports, who gets a glint in his eye at each new challenge he is faced with.

Hendrik is our adventurous climber from the Netherlands who took up climbing three decades ago and has never looked back. He began his initiation through sport climbing, moved on to trad climbing, multi-pitch and mountaineering. As a dedicated climbing guide at MC Adventure, Hendrik’s first love is to guide guests on sea cliffs, multi-pitch and trad climbs. His expertise extends to our other activities including abseiling, sea level traversing (SLT), coasteering, and trekking. He also loves guiding via ferrata routes.

Hendrik is an avid new-route developer and spends his free time exploring the many cliffs of Malta and Gozo looking for worthy new climbs that can either be ascended using trad gear or, if gear is sparse, can be equipped with bolts and converted into new sport climbs. He is also very active in replacing old bolts that have corroded over time, thereby making the sport so much safer on our islands.

Aside from guiding and developing new routes, Hendrik has a passion for the technical aspects of adventure sport installations, so – after suitable training with MC Adventure – he is our leading technician responsible for developing new activities such as ziplines, via ferratas, monkey bridges and skywalks. Always looking to develop his competencies, there are plenty of new activities that we want Hendrik to apply his skills to over the coming months and years.
